About this Event
Most of us were raised with the idea that one person gets one soul, period. Heathen tradition has a different take. A sálættr (from sál/soul and ættr/clan) is a soul tribe, and describes how a person is a community of seventeen distinct souls, each one a Being in its own right. Each of these souls exists in relationship with all of the others, with the body, with the ancestors and the gods and spirits. For anyone who has ever felt conflicted within your own head, this framework can help describe that experience and give you a way to work with it.
Sarenth Óðinsson takes all the pieces in order, from the body to the breath, from those who came before you to your own thread in the weaving of fate. For each one, he covers what it means, how it functions, how it can be damaged, and (most importantly!) how it can be healed. If we have a volunteer, he will read their Soul Map for the class and work with it as the session goes.
Students will leave able to name all seventeen parts and their places in the whole. No background in Heathenry is required. This workshop provides a map and a vocabulary for a new way of working with your own inner self; it is not shadow work and is not a replacement for therapy.
Sarenth Óðinsson is a Heathen erilaz (Runemaster), goði of Mimirsbrunnr Kindred, a vættirverkr and independent priest of Óðinn and Anpu.
