About this Event
Join us for an afternoon of wine, food and good conversation, hosted by Definitely Tuga and Mesa. Whether you know Portugal well or have never been, this is your seat at the Portuguese table. The afternoon has three parts:
1. The bottle swap: bring one, take one
Every guest brings one bottle of wine, from any country, and shares its story. Just 30 seconds, no speeches. Where is it from? Why did you choose it? Even “I got it as a gift and never opened it” is a great story.
How do the bottles find their new owners? Through an interactive game. We won’t spoil it. Just come ready to play and meet new people. Everyone goes home with a different bottle than the one they brought.
2. The tasting: 3 Portuguese wines, 3 regions
Your first wine is poured on arrival with the welcome petiscos. Two more follow later in the afternoon, when we take a closer look at all three:
- Deu La Deu (Vinho Verde): an Alvarinho from Monção e Melgaço, the northern corner of the region where this grape is at its best
- Casa de Santar (Dão): from a historic estate in the hills of the Dão, home to one of Portugal’s finest white grape varieties
- Quinta do Crasto (Douro): a red from one of the Douro’s most renowned estates, on the slopes above the river
You’ll learn where each wine comes from, which grapes it’s made from and what makes it unique. No wine knowledge needed.
3. The food: a Portuguese petiscos table
In Portugal, wine always comes with food. The tasting is paired with a generous spread of Portuguese petiscos:
- Artisan bread
- A selection of cheeses with fruit jams
- Iberian cured sausages (charcutaria)
- Sardine toasts
- Olives
- Roasted almonds
- Dried figs
