Connecting people working across employment and community services to practical resources and successful responses to changing systems.
About this Event

Employment support rarely begins or ends with a job search. Helping people move toward work—and remain connected to it—often requires navigating changing systems, identifying the right opportunities and responding to barriers that do not fit neatly within traditional employment services.

The Supporting Youth Employment Conference will bring together people from across employment and community services to share practical knowledge, resources and approaches that can strengthen support at different stages of the employment journey.

The day is intended to encourage learning across sectors, make useful resources easier to find and create connections between people doing related work in different settings.

Topics:

  • Training, paid placements, apprenticeships and education pathways
  • Preparing for employment and supporting people to remain employed
  • The impact of housing, health, disability, childcare and financial pressures
  • Criminal records, immigration status and work authorization
  • Business and self-employment opportunities
  • Changes to Employment Ontario and social assistance

Who Should Attend?

Social Workers, probation officers, teachers, lawyers, youth outreach workers, court support workers, Youth in-transition from care workers, bail supervisors, youth ministers, therapists, community nurses, sports coaches, caregivers, OW/ODSP caseworkers, employment counsellors, job developers, policy workers, students, new graduates, etc
