On Sunday November 1, Mountain Chalet will host SupportaPorter for a BOOT COLLECTION DAY.Supportaporter.org's mission is to empower the dedicated porters of Tanzania (guiding on Mount Kilimanjaro) by outfitting them with much-needed gear and clothing.
The organization aims to ensure the porters have the tools needed to succeed in their vital role with increased comfort and security.
So, let’s talk your part in this -- donations:
First, every donation makes a difference.
The donations SupportaPorter is seeking are gently used (which means safe and functional) hiking, backpacking and mountaineering boots for men and women. (Approach shoes would work, as well.).
Be happy you'll be contributing to sustainability knowing that your boots don't have to just be thrown out; they will go on to have a second summit and more.
On November 1, the CEO and founder of SupportaPorter will be at Mountain Chalet (from noon until 5) for this COLLECTION day made possible by your donations.
To ensure transparency and promote trust in their organization, Supportaporter is committed to tracking the full journey of all donations from the point of collection to the point of transfer to the local Tanzania team.
You have this great opportunity to be a huge part of making Supportaporter's goal of delivering its first donation in early 2027 possible.
SupportaPorter has partnered with several organizations - Kili Worldborn Safaris, Mountain Trip and Mountain Chalet - in order to make this goal a reality!
So, we ask you all to clear out your closets, make room for new adventure, donate boots that still have some miles in them.

Meet Charlie Robertson, founder and chief executive of SupportsPorter, Inc.:
"I started SupportaPorter the summer before my sophomore year in high school, after my trip to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, where I met and made connections with many porters, especially one named David. During the expedition, David was wearing crocs, up to high camp at 15,000 ft!
After I returned to high camp from the summit, he asked me for my boots after I finished the trek down the mountain. Of course, I gave him my pair of boots when we reached the base of the mountain, and the pure excitement on his face motivated me to start SupportaPorter. Our mission is to collect gently used or new mountaineering gear to send to porters like David so they can carry out their work under better conditions.”
