Everyone who plays, organises or attends indie and indie-pop shows in the North West was saddened to hear that vlogger, uber-fan and unparalleled scene-supporter Ana Maria Nazario has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Ana's trekked over from her home in Stockport to Preston many times to attend gigs at The Continental and we've put together a line-up of acts that Ana likes to pay tribute to her and raise some funds for her to complete her bucket-list.
THE ROOM, AUTOCAMPER, TIGERS AND FLIES, THE AMBER LIST/ECHOES OF THE BUNNYMEN, GINNEL and THE OPENING SONG (inc Mark Whiteside) will be playing for Ana on Sunday 8th November at The Continental and we'd like you to be there.
Tickets £10 here : https://wegottickets.com/f/29633 or from Action Records in Preston from 12th October with no booking fee.
THE ROOM
In late 2021, Dave Jackson a fixture on the Liverpool music scene since 1979, leading acts such as Benny Profane, Dust, Cathedral Mountaineers and The Room in the Wood, reconvened with his oldest partner in crime, bass player Becky Stringer. Together they've revived their earliest incarnation as The Room, who previously operated from 1979 to 1985.
Championed by John Peel and the music press, and ticking all the right boxes with their spiky, tightly-wound post punk sound, The Room somehow missed out on the commercial success achieved by Merseyside contemporaries Echo and the Bunnymen and Teardrop Explodes, by what can only have been either bad luck or bad management.
Since 2023, now also including original drummer Clive Thomas, The Room have dropped three magnificent comeback albums, most recently, 'Doom Pop' in September 2026.
AUTOCAMPER
C86-influenced Manchester youngsters who announced their presence on the scene with last year's superb 'What Do you Do All Day' LP, put out by Safe Suburban Home in the UK and the esteemed Slumberland label in the US. A line-up change this year has precipitated a harder-edged, psychedelic sound.
TIGERS AND FLIES
Modestly described as "an amateur band" on their social media, Tigers and Flies impressed everyone who caught their set at the 2025 Preston Pop Fest, including a gobsmacked Stuart Murdoch of Belle and Sebastian fame no less. Their brass section will remind you of the June Brides!
THE AMBER LIST/ECHOES OF THE BUNNYMEN
You will be amazed as Preston indie-pop craftsmen The Amber List transform into the world's leading Bunnymen tribute act halfway through their set!
GINNEL
Ginnel are a post-punk primitive noise outfit and include singer Marcus Parnell from Preston legends, Peel session vets and Tuff Life Boogie favourites, Dandelion Adventure! Treading in the footsteps of long forgotten ghosts and taking compass readings
along the way from the likes of : The Modern Lovers, Swell Maps and The Fall , Ginnel are bringing old sounds to new ears.
Ginnel's long-awaited debut LP 'Swab, Scalpel, Sponge' impressed everyone on its release in 2023 and the band are currently prepping new material.
THE OPENING SONG
Mark Whiteside of Evil Blizzard/One Sided Horse collaborates with his pal Stewart Mayor on this piano and vocal project.
