Fanfare Kimbanguiste (in acronym: FAKI) was founded in 1951 in Kinshasa (then Léopoldville) by His Eminence father Joseph Diangienda Nkutima as a tool of evangelization for the Kimbanguist Church. At first the band was exclusive to Kinshasa and the Congo, but now FAKI has spread all over Africa and the world. Including big bands in Kinshasa, Europe, and Nkamba, the church’s International Headquarters.
FAKI’s style is very unique. Most of the music we play is inspired to the band. FAKI’s repertoire is composed of a mixture of classical hymns and a march style of music with standard percussion equipment including bass drums, snares, toms, and cymbals.
Here at FAKI our mission is to spread the Kimbanguist doctrine and values through our music. We are excited to play for you and hope you will enjoy our performance.
