Join SVBC Bike Sunnyvale for a fun family-friendly ride through Sunnyvale with our theme "The Halloween Crow Ride."
The Sunnyvale Crows became national celebrities and were on CNN with Mayor Larry Klein (and got mentioned on a few late-night talk shows by Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert) in 2022, after which we held our first ever Crow Ride! This will be our Fifth!
We find favorite crow hangouts and neighborhood decorations to create a course that showcases YES both our crows AND Sunnyvale residents' awesome Halloween decorations! So get crows decorations UP before October 24!
With that said:
What does a CROW and a SNAIL have in common? This year the ride is starting in SNAIL (Sunnyvale Neighbors of Arbor, Including La Linda) at Columbia Park!
Be part of this annual Sunnyvale family tradition! CAW CAW Come ride with our crows!
And if you cannot ride with the crows, please decorate your houses in SNAIL for the best Crow Ride and Halloween ever!
Riders Feel free to wear your best "Crow" and Halloween costumes! We encourage you to wear
- Halloween attire
- Crow attire
- But please also wear highly visible clothing or have excellent lights and reflectors on your bike
This social bike ride will be led by seasoned Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition volunteers who are trained on safety and group riding. This ride is suitable for all skill levels, including new riders and children. Children under 12 need to be accompanied by a responsible adult over 18 and ride a bicycle without training wheels.
ROUTE
As always route is TBD until the days before the event. Our volunteers need to ride 100+ miles (in loops around the neighbohood) in the week before to scope out the crow patterns and see who has put up their Halloween decorations. THEN we can create the best "crowse" possible. I mean course!
Right now pending "crowoperation," the plan is to start at Columbia Park, do 5-8 miles with a loop at Moffett Park to see the crows, a stop back at Columbia park, and anther loop in SNAIL to see the Halloween decorations.
The Sunnyvale Crows... why beat em when you can join them AND create an event around them that supports the community? We CAW upon all of you to come have fun with us!
Please arrive punctually by 5:00 PM to check in and listen to safety instructions before we roll.
Location: Columbia Park
Please bring:
- Helmet
- High visibility clothing
- Bike lights - the ride is set to end right at Sunset, and we will finish in the dark
- Water bottle
- Flat repair (if you have it)
