A native Texan with an expressive reedy contralto perfectly suited for everything from honky tonk to Americana — Sunny Sweeney has been one of country music’s most honest and independent voices for two decades. Her 2014 album Provoked cracked the Top 20 on the Billboard Country Albums chart and earned critical acclaim. In 2019, Bob Seger personally invited her to open his farewell tour. She hosts Sunny Side Up on Willie’s Roadhouse and Sunny Side of Life on SiriusXM Outlaw Country.
Her latest album Rhinestone Requiem — a back-to-basics hardcore honky tonk record co-produced with her longtime guitarist Harley Husbands — is out now. Rolling Stone Country, NPR, and regional Texas publications regularly single her out as one of modern country’s most reliable and honest voices.
