The Rhynes
The Rhynes pronounced “reens”, were formed by Joe Atkinson who has toured and recorded extensively over the years as the keyboard player for Flipron, Neville Staple from the Specials, 60’s legend Donovan and Pauline Black/The Selecter among others. Reviews have likened The Rhynes to IRS era REM with vocals reminiscent of Steven Duffy and Tim Burgess. (Americana.com/WIM.com)
The ten songs on Feel So Sure were written by Joe Atkinson who again sings and plays most of the instruments on the album. Drums, as on the previous two albums, are supplied by Matty Bane (The Neville Staple Band/The Beat ft. Ranking Junior).
The 60’s vocal harmonies, jangly west coast guitars, Hammond organs and Nicky Hopkins-esque pianos remain with the musical palette being broadened with the addition of lapsteel guitar courtesy of Atkinson’s longtime collaborator Billy Shinbone (Flipron, Neville Staple Band, The Sinclairs) and even a horn section featuring Drew Stansall from The Specials.
