A hand-built ceramics and functional form class introduces you to shaping clay without a pottery wheel, blending creative expression with the making of practical, everyday objects. You’ll learn foundational hand building techniques such as pinching—shaping clay with your fingers into small, organic forms; coiling—building up larger or sculptural pieces with rolled strands of clay; and slab building—creating forms like vases, boxes, or vessels from flat pieces of clay.
