ABOUT GUY STOUT
Guy Stout’s passion for wine began early in his career while working in wine and spirits sales throughout Texas. In 1999, with the support of his wife, Kim, and their family, that passion took root when they purchased land in the Texas Hill Country and established a vineyard and ranch, planting Syrah and Tempranillo grapes. Wine quickly became a family affair, with the Stouts learning the craft quite literally from the ground up.
Guy continued to deepen his expertise, earning the prestigious title of Master Sommelier in 2005, becoming only the second in Texas at the time. He went on to mentor and train the next generation of sommeliers while building a respected career and an extensive network throughout the wine industry.
That passion also inspired his son Ian. After graduating from Texas Christian University, Ian moved to California and worked with several high-end wineries, developing his winemaking expertise and building relationships with growers and suppliers throughout Napa Valley.
Drawing on decades of industry experience and the family’s connections in Napa, the Stouts produced their first vintage of Stout Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon in 2011. Their vision was to craft an approachable Napa Valley Cabernet with exceptional character and quality, aged 18 to 24 months in French oak.
Today, Stout Family Wines represents the culmination of a true family journey, from planting vines in the Texas Hill Country to producing Napa Valley Cabernet enjoyed by wine enthusiasts across the country. With Guy and Kim Stout, Ian, and longtime industry friends Randy and Karen Porter helping grow the brand, Stout Family Wines continues to be rooted in a shared passion for great wine, family, and bringing people together around the table.
