We are super excited to continue our ongoing work in Steelhead Creek within the City's forgotten Walter S. Ueda Parkway. We will continue partnering with creek steward Roland Brady, PhD. Please come out and help us clear the channel for the Salmon 🐟🐟🐟 and improve other wildlife habitat by removing trash and invasive vegetation such as Red Sesbania and Aquatic Primrose. πŸ—‘οΈπŸŒ±
PLEASE arrive 15 minutes prior to start time.
AGE LIMIT: This event is not suitable for minors under 16 years old. Minors 16 and older are invited, but must be supervised by a responsible adult during the entire event.
There will be plenty of hard-core badgering (digging out the big stuff), but also lots of easy detail work along the flat floodplain above the creek. We will provide bags, but please bring along your waders and/or sturdy, mud-resistant footwear, grabbers, buckets, and gloves - a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. As there is water in the creek and lower floodplain, participants will be required to wear rain boots or waders if they intend to get into the water. Entry into any waters is always optional, but is definitely helpful in this area.
As with all events shared on RCWA, participation is performed solely at your own risk. Please place safety FIRST and do only what you feel comfortable doing. Moreover, participants will be required to sign a Release and Waiver form if they have not done so previously.
Thank you!πŸ’š
This event is partially funded by a grant received through Sacramento County's FY 2026-27 Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) Grant Program. Thank you Sacramento County!
