Hail and welcome,
Majesties, Excellencies, Lords, Ladies, and all good folk in between -
The Barony of Starkhafn invites you to our Yule celebration! Prepare for a journey... Don your finest festive garb for an indoor and outdoor revel, and sail with us as we retrace the voyages of the Norse ancestors. From Vinland and Britannia, to the gates of Byzantium and the shores of the Caspian Sea.
From Normandy to the Danelaw, and the wild Rus lands - we will explore them all! Walk amongst booths showcasing each culture (with photo opportunities for our travelers) and then feast like Jarls with a six-course banquet worthy of the sagas.
The youth can anticipate Father Yule attending and bestowing gifts and pleasantries, if not a little festive entertainment.
Merriment, music, and magic await. We cannot wait to celebrate with you. Skal!
THE FEAST:
Our Viking feast will include six courses:
● First Course: A Vinland Spread
“A view into the bountiful lands and the flavors the Natives of North America would

● Second Course: The spoils of Old Britannia
“The thick and hearty meals of the journey West, and the glory of a new land.”
- Capon in Quinces (chicken stew) with shepherd’s pie and roasted vegetables.
● Third Course: Varangians in the Caspian Sea.
“The flavors of Sultans and steel... The spices of a new world.”
- Kubideh (seasoned ground beef) and Chicken Kabobs displayed on saffron
and turmeric rice.
- Bazmawurd (bread and meat wrap) with a cucumber salad and tzatziki sauce.
● Fourth Course: The raids of Normandy
“The payment of conquest in Frankia, a rich and savory victory indeed.”
- Beef Bourguignon (a classic French beef stew braised in red wine)
● Fifth Course: Valhalla calling me
“The Saehrimnir Feast; A serving of the great boar hunted and fed upon by those in
Odin's halls, only to reform and be hunted again the next day.”
- Pork tenderloin with lingonberry jam and vegetables.
- (Paired by request with a Lingonberry Mead brewed by Thoren Falkson of
Starkhafn)
● Sixth Course: A deal with the Rus:
“The succulent flavor of battles worth fighting, and a sweet treat for your Holiday

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES:
- Arts & Sciences at Starkhafn Yule!
- HL Jerusha has a slew of activities planned for Yule:
- Pentathlon Preview Display:
Planning on participating in Pentathlon 2027? Show us what you have so far! Bring out your project, or, if it is not display-ready, bring your documentation and share what you have so far! There is no prize or contest, just an opportunity to share what you have and, *ONLY IF YOU WISH FOR IT*, get feedback and assistance from the assembled populace.
- Traditional Arts Display:
There will also be a traditional display. Bring any project that is complete or in progress; documentation is not required but encouraged. There will be prizes for Populace, Coronet, and Royal Choice. If there are any alcoholic brewing entries, they will have their own separate competition. Please be prepared to show ID - don’t be that guy.
- Art Supply Sale/Silent Auction
We have a surplus of donations and wonderful supplies that we want to see used. Most supplies will be available for direct sale.
- We also have premium items that will form a silent auction. This includes, feast gear, garb, and jewelry.
- There will be something for everyone! All funds raised will be used directly by the Arts Office to acquire space for in person activities for 2027.
- Any questions about Arts at Yule or if you would like to arrange a donation, you can contact HL Jerusha via facebook or via email at [email protected]
The Bard of Starkhafn competition will also take place during this event. In keeping with the theme, submissions should be centered around travel and multicultural influences. We would love to see all bards entertain everyone with their persona and culture!
Yule caroling will take place before the evening ends.
Looking for a spot to volunteer? We are in need of those willing to assist the kitchen crew in various capacities, as well as set-up and tear-down assistance. Please contact the Event Stewards at Yule!
SITE CONDITIONS: This site is a mixed indoor and outdoor venue with outdoor seating for the feast. As such, please plan for potentially colder weather and bring warm coats or cloaks.
Check weather conditions closer to the event and plan accordingly. (If indoor seating for the feast is required based on health concerns, space can be reserved by informing us when registering.)
