Squawkin' Sports: Global Hoops Edition
Hosted by Patrick Sauer & David J. Roth
Featuring authors Jonathan Abrams and Alex Squadron
Tickets starting at $11
Created and hosted by writers David J. Roth and Patrick Sauer, Squawkin’ Sports is an ongoing series featuring book chats with authors who write about playing games. This month, Roth and Sauer chat with The New York Times reporter Jonathan Abrams, author of When We Were Young and Fearless: Kevin, Russell, James, and the Making of the Modern NBA, and sports journalist Alex Squadron, author of New Kings: Africa's Hoop Dreams and the Future of the NBA.
Abrams' When We Were Young and Fearless takes a deep dive into the lives and careers of Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden, using their entangled paths as a lens to view the myriad facets of the player empowerment era.
Squadron's New Kings is a compelling, eye-opening chronicle of the rise of basketball in modern Africa and the burgeoning talent pipeline poised to transform the NBA.
