Unleash your creativity and express your emotions with a chilled Sunday afternoon sip and learn abstract painting!About this Event
Beyond the Brush: Experimental Ink & Abstract Landscape
Ditch the traditional paintbrush and rediscover the expressive power of ink through everyday objects.
Join us for a hands-on, experimental art workshop where straws, chopsticks, tissues, and cardboard replace classic brushes. Learn to translate movement, emotion, and texture into ink marks, and create your own dynamic rendition of abstract masterpieces.
What You’ll Experience
- Everyday Objects as Art Tools: Experiment with unconventional materials to create surprising marks, textures, lines and patterns beyond traditional brush techniques.
- The Art of Spontaneity: Let go of rules and expectations through intuitive, free-flowing mark-making. Discover how accidental marks can become the starting point for creativity.
- Finding Images in Abstraction: Explore how imagination transforms abstract shapes into recognisable forms, from landscapes and plants to animals and imaginary creatures.
- Create Your Own Ink Painting: Combine your experimental marks with imagination to develop a unique artwork that reflects your personal interpretation.
Workshop Breakdown
- Step 1 · Tool Exploration & Mark Discovery: Explore everyday objects such as straws, chopsticks, sponges and cardboard. Experiment with ink to discover different marks, textures, splashes and patterns.
- Step 2 · Spontaneous & Intuitive Creation: Using your newly discovered techniques, create an abstract composition through playful, instinctive and spontaneous mark-making. Let the ink flow freely without planning the final image.
- Step 3 · From Imagination to Abstraction: Observe your abstract composition and discover hidden shapes, forms and unexpected connections. Use your imagination to develop these discoveries into a finished ink painting, adding details and expressive marks to bring your artwork to life.
