Join the CV Chamber and Spirits of the West Coast Gallery for the official Art Exhibition Opening of our newest showing, Living Traditions: Indigenous Art of the Northwest Coast Thursday October 29, 2026 from 2:30-4:30pm.The Chamber's quarterly rotating exhibit highlights the vital role of collaboration between the business and arts sectors in fostering cultural vibrancy and economic growth within the community. In collaboration with local art galleries, we showcase a diverse array of artwork from local artists, reflecting the rich cultural tapestry of our community.
Living Traditions: Indigenous Art of the Northwest Coast celebrates the enduring artistic traditions and contemporary expressions of Northwest Coast Indigenous Peoples. The exhibition brings together hand-carved masks, paddles, panels, and limited-edition prints by First Nations artists deeply connected to their communities and cultures. Through their work, these artists carry forward generations of knowledge, share stories, honour their ancestors, and express their identities.
Featured artist Rod Smith will be hosting a meet and greet at this event. Rod's work reflects the continuation of Northwest Coast artistic traditions through the skills, knowledge, and cultural teachings passed down through generations. Together, these works demonstrate how today's artists honour ancestral teachings while building upon them, celebrating the resilience, creativity, and enduring strength of Indigenous cultures and keeping traditions vibrant and meaningful for future generations.
All works have been selected from the collection of Spirits of the West Coast Art Gallery, located on the unceded traditional territory of the K'ómoks First Nation.
