✦ 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, as part of the retrospective dedicated to Lina Wertmüller ✦📍 Cinémathèque @Théâtre des Capucins
In November 2026, the Cinémathèque presents a retrospective dedicated to Italian filmmaker Lina Wertmüller, featuring three landmark films from the early 1970s that explore power, desire and class relations.
The retrospective opens with 𝐒𝐰𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐲, a provocative yet delightfully irreverent comedy in which Wertmüller masterfully intertwines sex and politics, starring her favourite screen duo, Giancarlo Giannini and Mariangela Melato.

Travolti da un insolito destino nell'azzurro mare d'agosto | Italie 1974 | Lina Wertmüller | vostEN | 114’ | digital | Cast : Giancarlo Giannini, Mariangela Melato
On an elegant yacht cruising off the coast of Sardinia, Raffaella, a rich and stunning capitalist, enjoys tormenting Gennarino, a Communist sailor. Fate weaves a different scenario and roles become reversed when the two find themselves stranded together on a deserted island…
« The lightest, most successful fusion of Lina Wertmuller's two favorite themes: sex and politics. Giannini and Melato are the best things to happen to Italian comedy since Mastroianni and Loren squared off in the 1960s. » (The New York Times)
« Swept Away is truly an amazing movie that is still as potent at 50 years old as it was back in the day. » (Film Threat)
