Bio:
Dr. Trevor Bryant is an assistant professor of history and director of public history program at Flagler College, where he teaches courses on Florida, Latin America, and early U.S. history. His research focuses on the intersections of colonialism, slavery, and borderlands in the early modern Atlantic world, with a particular interest in showing Florida’s role as a connection between the circum-Caribbean and North American Southeast. He is especially interested in how imperial rivalries, Indigenous sovereignty, and African diasporic experiences shaped the development of contested spaces such as colonial Florida. As the College’s director of the Public History program, his work engages public history and historical memory, exploring how sites like St. Augustine interpret and present complex pasts for modern audiences.
