Southside Aces have been playing holiday shows for over twenty years. They play favorites, lesser-knowns, even originals! When you put holiday tunes through the New Orleans jazz filter, you make Yuletide haters love, and lovers love more!“Can you play Christmas music successfully in a New Orleans ensemble style? The answer is a resounding yes! This is great trad jazz…but also evokes a flood of Christmas feelings from the melancholy to the gay.”
— Syncopated Times review of Southside Aces Christmas album, Santaphone
For two decades, the Southside Aces have performed traditional New Orleans jazz for weddings, festivals, clubs, and more—music furnished for all occasions. The Aces utilize the traditional canon for its sweetness and spice, joy and sorrow, whatever the mood should call for.
Southside Aces released two albums in 2026. Les Oignons is their tribute to New Orleans clarinetist Sidney Bechet. The Big Beat is a New Orleans party on a record. Ten tracks showcasing their obvious love of New Orleans music. Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, Kid Ory, and Fats Domino are all represented here. Additionally, a little Amy Winehouse, Butch Thompson, and Duke Ellington thrown in for good measure.
