About this Event

The Sound Ecologies Chamber Orchestra makes its CAMi debut with Orchestramania III, presenting six world-premiere works by Indiana composers Frank Felice, John Berners, D.S. Isaac, Matthew Rhoad, and Rob Funkhouser, under the direction of conductor Elliott Lentz. Sound Ecologies is an Indianapolis-based music collective and nonprofit born from informal jam sessions among University of Indianapolis students that grew, during the pandemic, into an organization dedicated to commissioning new classical and contemporary music while ensuring composers and performers are paid for their work. Since incorporating, the group has premiered more than 120 new pieces by Indiana-based composers in venues across the city, from churches and university concert series to the Indiana Historical Society's Basile Theatre — and now, for the first time, CAMi. True to its name, Sound Ecologies pairs its musical mission with environmental and community partnerships — including the Indiana Audubon Society, Indiana Native Plants, and UIndy Gardens — treating music as a living ecosystem in service of both community and conservation.
