Sound Cabinet is an intimate listening experience that opens the door to the creative worlds of Western Australia's most compelling musicians, producers, composers, DJs and sound artists. Your new favourite music event series hosted at WA Museum Boola Bardip.
For one night only, a featured artist will take over the space, guiding audiences through the sounds that have influenced their practice. You'll hear everything from influential tracks and personal recordings to unfinished ideas, creative experiments and behind-the-scenes stories.
On Saturday 5 December join award-winning musician, producer and creative storyteller Ayo Busari for a conversation exploring music, migration and memory. Drawing on his experiences across Nigeria, the United Kingdom and Australia, Ayo will share how identity, belonging and lived experience shape his songwriting and creative practice.
Discover how he blends Afro-fusion, R&B, electronic music, house and spoken word to create powerful works that connect communities and celebrate diverse stories.
Part listening session, part live conversation, part sonic journey, each Sound Cabinet session offers an intimate look into how music is imagined and made.
Ayo Busari is an award-winning Creative Producer, Composer, Performer, Writer, and Community Arts Leader working across theatre, music, and live performance. A defining voice in Western Australia’s performing arts sector, he is best known as the co-frontman of genre blending music project TAB Family. His practice centres on immersive storytelling that fuses spoken word, movement, live sound, and poetic narrative.
His work has received multiple accolades, including the 2025 FRINGE WORLD Award for Music & Musicals for TAB Family’s performances. In the same year, TAB Family won R&B/Funk/Soul Act of the Year at the WAM Awards, and Ayo was nominated for Electronic Producer of the Year for his solo work.
