Most yoga classes tell you what to do. Somatic yoga asks what you can feel…THE CLASS
Really pleased to have Jo joining us on Thursday evenings. She found yoga over 30 years ago, trained in Iyengar, and now teaches in the Thomas Hanna somatic tradition. She's also a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. Her class is slow, precise and mostly on the floor, building into standing postures. She doesn't tell you what you should be feeling. She keeps asking what you actually notice.
THE FOCUS (Foundations)
Across the first five weeks, Jo weaves an introduction to the method through each class: the floor as a reference point, small movements like arch and flatten, and moving to the edge of a stretch rather than through it. The idea is simple. Parts of the body go quiet over years of sitting, habit and stress, and you can't change what you can't feel. There's a regression for every level, and you don't need to be flexible or strong to start.
Each week there's one small practice to take home, under two minutes.
This class is for you if you feel stiff or held in a way stretching hasn't shifted, or you finish most days wired and want to come down properly. It asks more of your attention than your effort.
