Soil & Symbol: An Afrocentric Paint & Sip
Saturday, February 6, 2027
Summary: Paint an Afrocentric planter inspired by Adinkra, Kente and mudcloth, sip hibiscus, and blend your own botanical body oil.
Description:
Celebrate Black History Month with an evening that is creative, culture rich and deeply restorative.
In Soil & Symbol, you will paint a planter inspired by African design traditions: Adinkra symbols, Kente color stories and mudcloth patterns. Each Adinkra symbol carries a proverb or teaching, so the planter you take home holds a message all its own. Then you will plant something living to carry that intention into your space.
Your sip is a chilled hibiscus blend inspired by the sorrel and bissap drinks enjoyed across West Africa and the Caribbean.
Your experience includes:
- A warm welcome with herbal tea
- The story behind the symbols and what they mean
- Guided planter painting and planting
- Your Signature Blend at the Elora Curation Bar, where you choose an intention and create a personalized botanical body oil
- A closing moment of reflection
You will take home: your hand painted planter, a living plant and a 1 oz personalized botanical body oil.
No painting experience needed. All materials are included.
Soil & Symbol is part of Made by Our Hands, Elora's Black History Month series, presented as part of Savage Mill's [Mill theme title] celebration.
