Make waist beads or a cowrie shell wristband or anklet, learn the stories behind them and blend your own aromatherapy roller.About this Event
Guests create waist beads or a cowrie shell wristband or anklet, inspired by African beadwork traditions where color and pattern have long carried meaning, beauty and story. Each bead represents something that makes us whole: our heritage, our people and the intentions we carry.
- The story: waist beads, worn for generations by Yoruba women in Nigeria and Krobo women in Ghana as symbols of womanhood, beauty and protection; cowrie shells, once used as currency across Africa and still treasured as symbols of wealth and protection; and color as a language, inspired by Zulu beadwork, where bead colors and patterns were used to send messages, even love letters
- Choose one: waist beads, or a cowrie shell wristband or anklet
- A self care message: waist beads never judge the body. They simply rest where they rest and move with us as we change
- Guest comfort: adjustable clasps and a private space for measuring; waist beads are worn under clothing
- Curation Bar: a personalized aromatherapy roller matched to the guest's chosen symbol
- Take home: handmade waist beads or cowrie wristband or anklet, and a 10 mL aromatherapy roller
