About Sensei Stephan Eberhagen:

Sensei Stephan Eberhagen's Ikebana journey began over 15 years ago in Germany with the Ikenobo School, the oldest Ikebana tradition. In 2010, he joined the Sogetsu School, where he now holds the rank of Jonin Sanyo instructor.
Sensei Eberhagen's teaching philosophy embraces the vision of Sofu Teshigahara, who viewed Ikebana as an art that harmonizes nature and humanity. Beyond technical mastery, he encourages students to experience the spiritual essence of Ikebana through each arrangement and to appreciate its energy, presence, and deeper meaning.

He regularly conducts in-person and Zoom Ikebana classes and has participated in several international Ikebana exhibitions, including at the Sogetsu Kaikan (Sogetsu Headquarters, Tokyo), as well as the book project Music Inspires Ikebana.
Selected projects and collaborations include:

  • Floral centerpieces for receptions celebrating the Japanese Emperor’s Birthday organized by the Consulate of Miami
  • Arrangements for the Japanese Consul’s private residence
  • Floral designs for the Asian Festivals in Miami
  • Large-scale installations for the Ichimura Garden festivals
  • Collaborations with the Sogetsu Florida Branch and II Chapter Miami
  • Demonstrations, exhibitions, workshops, and installations at botanical gardens, private events, and institutions including the Frost Art Museum (FIU) and the Florida International Affairs Foundation
