About this Event
Expect noise, breaks, coffee, and interesting conversation with fascinating guests.
Sophie Mackintosh is an award winning novelist. Her debut novel, The Water Cure, was longlisted for the 2018 Man Booker Prize and won the Betty Trask Award in 2019. Her third novel, Cursed Bread, was longlisted for the 2023 Women’s Prize for Fiction. Also in 2023, she was selected for Granta’s Best of Young British Novelists list, which recognises 20 of the most promising British novelists under 40.
Her latest, novel, Permanence, was published this year. It follows Clara and Francis, two lovers in an affair. One day, they wake up in a strange and unfamiliar city: a place where adulterers can live openly as couples, without fear of discovery or consequence. Clara and Francis have got what they wished for, but is what they wished for really what they want?
I am so excited to welcome Sophie to Small Hours to talk about her work, her craft, and her creative life.
