About this Event
Lasting around 60 to 90 minutes, these visits are designed to get our network away from desks and panel discussions, and onto live projects to learn directly from the people shaping communications on the ground.
The series aims to give communications professionals across the built environment a deeper understanding of what it really takes to engage large audiences and varied stakeholder groups, not just on behalf of a business, but on behalf of a whole place.
For this second tour, we are very grateful to the team at The Earls Court Development Company for opening up one of London’s most high-profile projects to the Build Up network. This is a major redevelopment in west London, backed by a far-reaching engagement strategy that speaks to the communities, partners and audiences the scheme affects.
The session will include a walk onto The Table, a structure that looms over the 40 acre site and a visit to Conversation Corner, their dedicated consultation space plus a Q&A with the ECDC team, exploring:
- The challenges of communicating with different audiences
- How those challenges have been, and continue to be, addressed
- How audiences were identified and engaged
- Key successes, lessons learned and standout moments
- The core message behind the development, and any sensitivities that needed careful handling
- How the business, the place and the community have been aligned around the project
After the tour, you are welcome to join us at The Prince for a drink. Please note that any food and drinks there will need to be purchased individually.
This is an activity-based event involving walking outdoors on an open site with limited shade, so sensible clothing and footwear are essential. As the event takes place in June, please come prepared for both heat and rain, and bring water and an umbrella. Due to the nature of the site there is no wheelchair access.
Spaces are limited, so please register now!
