A Közösség – Kultúra – Mozgalom: Globális perspektívák éves előadássorozat első alkalmán Ana Hofman Socialism Now: Singing Activism after Yugoslavia könyvét mutatják be.
Ana Hofman 2025-ben megjelent könyve (https://academic.oup.com/book/60031) a szocialista gondolatok, emlékek és politikai képzetek újjáéledését vizsgálja. Történeti és etnográfiai kutatásokra támaszkodva Hofman az elmúlt két évtizedben a volt Jugoszlávia területén létrejött önszerveződő kórusokat elemzi, és azt vizsgálja, miként működik az éneklés gyakorlata a társadalomkritika eszközeként és politikai cselekvésként.
A beszélgetést Nagy Kristóf, az ELTE PPK Felnőttképzés-kutatási és Tudásmenedzsment Intézetének adjunktusa vezeti be.

AZ ELŐADÓRÓL:
Ana Hofman népzenekutató és antropológus, a Szlovén Tudományos és Művészeti Akadémia Kultúra- és Emlékezetkutató Intézetének (ZRC SAZU) tudományos tanácsadója. Kutatásai a volt Jugoszlávia területén zajló emlékezetpolitikai, affektív és aktivista folyamatokra összpontosítanak a zenén keresztül, különös figyelmet fordítva a munka, a nemek, az osztályhelyzet és a politikai gazdaságtan kérdéseire. Az elmúlt években többek között a Rio de Janeirói Szövetségi Egyetemen, a CUNY Graduate Centerben és a londoni King's College-ban volt vendégkutató. Korábbi angol nyelvű monográfiái a Staging Socialist Femininity: Gender Politics and Folklore Performances in Serbia (Brill, 2011), valamint a Music, Affect, Politics: New Lives of Partisan Songs (ZRC Publishing, 2015; szerb fordítás: Biblioteka ** vek, 2016).

Singing Activism from Eastern Europe to Global Struggles - book talk by Ana Hofman
As part of the first event in the annual lecture series Community – Culture – Movement: Global Perspectives, Ana Hofman’s book Socialism Now: Singing Activism after Yugoslavia will be presented.
Ana Hofman's 2025 book Socialism Now: Singing Activism after Yugoslavia (https://academic.oup.com/book/60031) explores the resurgence of socialist ideas, memories and political concepts.
Drawing on historical and ethnographic research, Hofman analyses the self-organized choirs that have emerged across tthe territory of the former Yugoslavia over the past two decades and investigates how their practices of singing functions as a tool for social critique and as a form of political action.
The discussion will be introduced by Kristóf Nagy, assistant professor at the Institute of Research on Adult Education and Knowledge Management, Eötvös Loránd University.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Ana Hofman is an ethnomusicologist and anthropologist and Research Advisor at the Institute of Culture and Memory Studies, Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (ZRC SAZU). Her research focuses on memory, affect, and activism in the territory of the former Yugoslavia through the study of music and sound, with particular attention to labor, gender, class, and political economy. She has been a visiting researcher at institutions including the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, the CUNY Graduate Center, and King's College London. Her previous English-language monograph is Staging Socialist Femininity: Gender Politics and Folklore Performances in Serbia (Brill, 2011) and Music, Affect, Politics: New Lives of Partisan Songs (ZRC Publishing 2015, Serbian translation, Biblioteka ** vek 2016)
