Singers - polish up your vocal folds and prepare to shine!Wesley Music Centre
Final 2026 sessions: Monday 14th September, and Monday 26th October 5.30pm - 7pm
Cost: Flat rate $50 includes refreshments
Arete Music’s “Singer Sandbox” events allow the classical singing community to practice performing! These Monday night sessions connect trained singers, young and old, enabling ideas and experience to be shared across town, across studios, and across genres.
What happens at Singer Sandbox?
Perform or observe... either way, the focus is on sharing ideas with others. Sessions are facilitated using a 'structured response' process, giving performers control over the feedback they receive and allowing for in-depth group discussion.
Participants say:
"I really valued the opportunity to connect with and learn from other local singers".
"It was great to hear everyone's different voices, styles, and repertoire".
"...this kind of event helps to fill the gap between private lessons and full public performance!"
"Having now seen the format/structure of the event, I would really like to sing next time!"
To reserve your seat, begin by selecting the date on the calendar on this page. To express interest in performing, follow the prompts during registration, then email a clear PDF of your sheet music to [email protected] at least 3 weeks prior to the session at which you'd like to perform. For maximum benefit to all, there's a limit of four performer slots per event, so get in early. Confirmation of singers (including reserves) will be sent out at least 2 weeks prior.
What should I sing?
Classical pieces - including opera, oratorio, operetta, art songs, lieder, mélodie and "legit" musical theatre numbers. Get together with friends to sing a duet or ensemble! Not sure? Ask us by emailing [email protected]
