About this Event
Somehow we know intuitively that Heidegger’s Being and Time is important, without really being able to explain why. In 18 clear chapters, philosopher Simon Critchley’s (NYRB), based on a series of podcasts recorded during the uncertain times of 2020, leads us on a slow, intimate journey through Heidegger's notoriously difficult architecture in terms that are understandable and, most importantly, usable for intelligent, curious laypeople. Critchley will be in conversation with Tom McCarthy whose latest novel will be published in November 2026.
