Join the curator of Sightlines: British Landscape Photography, 1840 to Now for a three-session exploration of the Yale Center for British Art's remarkable photography collection. Beginning with pioneering nineteenth-century photographers such as William Henry Fox Talbot and Roger Fenton and continuing through more contemporary artists including Fay Godwin, Michael Kenna, Rachel Whiteread, and Neeta Madahar, the course explores how photographers have reimagined the landscape in response to changing social, political, and environmental conditions. Through intimate sessions in the galleries and the Study Room, participants will encounter photographs up close, gaining rare access to works seldom on view while tracing the evolution of British landscape photography. Combining close looking with lively discussion, this behind-the-scenes experience offers fresh perspectives on one of Britain's most enduring artistic traditions.
