Every journey begins with discovery.The Boulder Philharmonic’s 2026/27 season opens with music that moves with curiosity, momentum, and imagination. Canadian composer Vivian Fung’s spirited Pizzicato launches the evening with rhythmic wit and playful energy—a sharp, colorful curtain-raiser from one of today’s most compelling living composers.
Flutist Christina Jennings then takes center stage in Lowell Liebermann’s dazzling Flute Concerto, a work filled with soaring lyricism, sparkling virtuosity, and irresistible melodic charm. At once playful and deeply expressive, the concerto blends brilliant orchestral color with a sense of restless motion, showcasing both the soloist and orchestra in music that feels alive with possibility.
The evening culminates in Sibelius’s beloved Symphony No. 2, one of the great symphonic journeys in the repertoire.
