About the workshop:
You can have something brilliant to say — but how you say it can completely change how people receive it.
Speak So People Listen is a dynamic, hands-on workshop on the physical side of confident communication: how you use your voice, body and the space around you. We’ll explore projection, vocal variety, pace, pauses, intonation, gestures, posture, eye contact and presence — and, crucially, we won’t just talk about them.
Katie will demonstrate these techniques live, building the same piece of communication layer by layer so you can see and hear exactly what changes. Then it’s your turn. After each demonstration, you’ll put the technique into practice yourself. This is not a workshop where you sit and listen to someone talk about speaking confidently — you’ll be up, using your voice, experimenting and practising throughout.
You’ll leave having practised practical tools you can use immediately—whether you’re giving a presentation, pitching your services, leading a meeting or workshop, speaking at an event, recording a video for your business, or simply aiming to hold people’s attention when you have something important to say—so that the way you speak matches the strength of what you have to say.
Katie's BIO:
Katie Lawrance is an English Communication Coach and founder of Emerge with English in Porto. Since 2016, she has supported international professionals in communicating with greater clarity, confidence and authenticity in workplace conversations, presentations, interviews and high-stakes meetings. Her practical, learning-by-doing approach goes beyond language to develop voice, presence, self-expression and the soft skills needed to ensure ideas are heard and understood.
