In this six-week bouldering series, you’ll build the skills, technique, strength, and confidence to become a more capable climber. Open to women, non-binary, trans, and female identifying climbers 18+ who are looking to level up their climbing while building community through six weeks of coached climbing.

Dates: Wednesdays, November 4 - December 16 , 6:00-8:00pm

*No class November 25

Cost: $125 - Tomo Bouldering members, $175 - non-members *

*Non- Member registration includes gym access from November 4 - December 16, so you can practice your new skills outside of class.

Climbing is a skill - and strength will only get you so far. The best climbers know how to move well, read problems, and use their bodies efficiently. Whether you’re a beginner or intermediate climber, this series will expand your technique vocabulary and help you refine your movement through progressive coaching and practice.

Each week will build on the concepts from the week before, giving you the opportunity to learn, practice, and put new skills into action. We’ll wrap up the series with a fun, low-pressure mini comp where you can put your skills to the test and celebrate your progress with the group.

About Coach Abby:

Originally from the foothills of Virginia, Abby has lived in Oregon since 2020 and now considers it home. She comes from an outdoorsy and adventurous family, with fond memories of being put into a full-body harness at the ripe old age of four to climb the small cliffs of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Though she studied martial arts for most of her youth, Abby claimed rock climbing as her sport in 2014 and has been in the industry ever since. She picked up a T-wrench to set a route for the first time in 2015 at a tiny little gym in Arkansas, where she lived for several years before moving to Portland. Since then, she has worked at three other climbing gyms - including Movement, her current place of work - as both a route setter and a coach.

Abby has primarily set commercially, though she also has some competition-setting experience. As a coach, she has worked with climbers of all ages and skill levels, with the majority of her experience being with USA Climbing youth teams.

When she’s not at the gym, you can find Abby painting nature scenes, reading fantasy novels, sitting in a patch of sunshine somewhere, cuddling her cat Charlie, playing games with friends, or, of course, climbing outside.
