RDP is supposed to be the last line of defense protecting firmware inside a microcontroller. In this workshop, you'll be the one breaking it.
Welcome to Day 2 of SHARP 2026, the hands-on hardware security workshop hosted by eShard in collaboration with NTU NiCE Labs.
Over one focused half-day session, you'll move from theory to practice: setting up real test benches, running structured voltage glitch campaigns, and ultimately extracting firmware from STM32F1 microcontrollers with your own hands.
You'll work in small groups of up to 2 participants per bench, so everyone gets real hands-on time with the equipment.

📆 Technical Agenda
1. Foundations
Review the single RDP protection level on our target, and the theory behind the fault injection attack against it.
2. Bench Setup
Configure and operate test benches, including oscilloscopes, and review board optimizations for fault injection through power path and board modifications.
3. Attack Execution
Conduct structured characterization (cartography) campaigns to fine-tune critical attack parameters: timing, glitch width, and amplitude.
4. Analysis
Analyze logs and review previous datasets using eShard's provided notebooks to identify effective attack strategies, applying the same methodology used in structured voltage glitch campaigns.
