About this Event
An Indigenous-Facing Story Hour featuring local Drag Artists and Sisters, with a focus on the uplifting of Native Voices and Indigenous Culture. Our goal with this Thanksgiving Story Hour is to raise awareness and accessibility to the rich indigenous cultures of the St. Louis area.
Featuring instructional aides for learning elements of the Miami-Illini, Choctaw, and Osage languages, as well as a Sharing Circle where all can interact with each and share stories and feelings. We're also putting together an assortment of examples of Indigenous crafts and artwork from members of the local community.
There will be ASL interpreters present at this event.
Located in St. Louis, Missouri, the Fourth City Sisters acknowledge that we gather on the ancestral, traditional, and contemporary lands of the Osage Nation, Otoe-Missouria (O-Toe Missouri-a), Illinois Confederacy, Quapaw (kwaa·paa), Ho-Chunk (Ho-Chunk), Miami and many other tribes as the custodians of the land, who were removed unjustly, and that we in this community are the beneficiaries of that removal. Please join us in elevating and celebrating their communities, elders both past and present, as well as future generations.
