Description
Shanghai has more coffee shops than any other city on Earth. Competitors representing China won the World Brewers Cup in 2019 and 2025. This cupping brings ten coffees roasted in Shanghai to one table in Denver.
On the Table
You will taste ten lots from Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, and Ethiopia roasted by MobyDick, Yelei, and Big Sur side by side. The table includes washed and natural Geshas, Ethiopian 74158 selections, a honey-process Tabi, and a nitrogen-yeast Red Gesha.
One coffee comes from Hacienda La Esmeralda’s Cañas Verdes farm in Boquete, Panama. Cañas Verdes produced the $601-per-pound auction record in 2017; Hacienda La Esmeralda set the current green-coffee auction record in 2025. The coffee on this table is a different Cañas Verdes harvest, roasted by Yelei.
How the cupping works
This is a limited space event, each coffee will be served in two cupping bowls allowing every guest space to smell, taste, return, compare, and follow the cup as it cools, without waiting for an opening at the table.
Your ticket includes:
- A guided ten-coffee cupping led by Amit Manocha
- Two bowls of each coffee on the table
- A printed tasting record with the full lineup and room for your notes
- Two dairy-free, nonalcoholic beverages created by Arianna “Ari” Angeles (@coffeemama), U.S. Brewers Cup judge: one welcome beverage and one parting beverage
- A private after-hours session at Sapor
Before you Arrive
This is an active, mostly standing tasting. Seating will be available for anyone who needs it.
Doors open at 2:15pm. The cupping begins at 2:30pm sharp. The table follows a timed process, so arrival after the start may mean missing the experience.
Tickets are refundable within 24 hours of purchase when purchased more than 72 hours before the event. Tickets purchased within 72 hours of the event are final sale.
Photography and video will be captured during the event for CafeTracker. Guests who prefer not to appear in close-up content can identify themselves at check-in.
