Sewing 101: Upcycle Your Wardrobe Workshop

Welcome to our Back to Basics Series...

Have a piece in your wardrobe that needs a little love? Bring it back to life.

Join Even Numbers x Taft Weber-Kilpack for a hands-on Sewing 101 and wardrobe upcycling workshop in Milan, focused entirely on hand sewing, clothing repair, and creative alterations.

Led by Taft Weber-Kilpack, this beginner-friendly workshop will introduce you to practical hand-sewing techniques that you can use to repair, alter, and personalize your clothes.

You'll bring one clothing item from your own wardrobe and spend the evening learning, making, and giving it a new life.

What We'll Do

🧵 Learn Hand-Sewing Basics
Learn essential hand-sewing techniques and stitches with guidance from Taft throughout the workshop.

♻️ Upcycle One Wardrobe Piece
Bring ONE clothing item that you'd like to repair, alter, or transform.

✂️ Repair & Modify
Work on your garment using simple hand-sewing techniques and creative alterations.

🎨 No Sewing Experience Needed
This workshop is designed for beginners. Taft will guide you through the process and help you work with your individual garment.

🎨Food & drinks: The venue bar will be available during the workshop, with a special participant discount available for food and drinks. F&B not included in your ticket. We kindly ask you to support the venue with a purchase.

What Should I Bring?

Just ONE clothing item.

Choose something you'd like to repair, alter, customize, or give a new life to. Examples could include a shirt, trousers, skirt, jacket, dress, or vintage piece.

Your garment should be suitable for hand sewing. Leather, heavy canvas, and other particularly thick fabrics are not recommended. Large rips longer than approximately 30 cm / 1 foot may also be difficult to complete by hand during the workshop.

What We Provide

You don't need to bring any sewing supplies.

We'll provide all fabric, sewing materials, tools, and supplies needed for the workshop, including materials you can use to creatively alter or embellish your garment.

No sewing machines or irons will be used. This is a 100% hand-sewing workshop, focused on mindful and slow techniques that you can take home with you, whether or not you have your own sewing machine.

Meet Your Facilitator: Taft Weber-Kilpack

Taft Weber-Kilpack will guide the evening, sharing practical hand-sewing and garment upcycling techniques while helping each participant develop their own project.

Taft is a San Francisco-raised, Milan-based designer, researcher, and seamstress with over 10 years of experience bringing garments back to life and teaching people how to make their clothes work better for them.
