A political comedy with silliness, songs and shocking statistics! Sewage: Definitely Not a Musical is partly framed as a fairy tale with a wicked empress selling off the water to the water kings.
It's narrated by Joseph Bazalgette and James Newlands, two pioneering civil engineers who built sewers in London and Liverpool, to improve public health and increase life expectancy which was just 19 in some areas.
They look on in despair as they watch the impact of sewage spills and the water shortage on a family living on the Kent coast who rely on tourism for their livelihoods. Sewage and access to water is once again a huge problem because of water company greed and a dereliction of duty by subsequent governments.
What audiences are saying
'A disgustingly brilliant show!'
'Laugh out loud with fabulous performances, brilliant songs and a really clever script.'
‘Hugely entertaining but incredibly informative, shining a light on what's happening with our water and sewerage systems.'
The play is on a tour of eight theatres around Kent this year and 2027.
