Hello whiskey friends!
Back to the big guys! Woodford Reserve only began making whiskey in 1996, when Brown-Forman re-purchased back a distillery it had owned in the 1960s. As if sensing the whiskey boom arriving in the early 2000s, it was among the first brands to begin selling bourbon exclusively as a premium spirit (i.e. one that was made to be consumed by itself.
Today, Woodford is synonymous with premium. It's biggest mark on culture is it is the official bourbon of the Kentucky Derby and has been since 1999, only three years into its existence!
