About this Event
This practical two-hour workshop explores how the way you think shapes how you perform as a founder, and helps you build the habits that keep you in growth mode when things get tough.
You'll look at fixed and growth mindset and the honest evidence behind it, and at how fixed thinking shows up in founders: avoiding feedback, fear of looking naive, comparison and perfectionism. You'll learn simple tools for responding to setbacks, and how to think like a scientist, treating everything you try, and every piece of advice you receive, as a test to prove or disprove for your business. That includes reframing investor and customer rejection as useful data rather than a verdict.
The session is highly interactive, with solo reflection, pair work and small-group discussion throughout. You'll bring one thing you've been avoiding in your business and leave with a small, practical test to run on it.
By the end of the session, you will have practical tools to help you:
- recognise where you slip into fixed thinking, and what it costs you;
- respond to setbacks and rejection with ownership rather than blame;
- turn fears and untested assumptions into quick, low-cost experiments;
- use language, deliberate practice and asking for help to keep growing;
- build a personal mindset routine you can stick to.
The workshop is led by Jason Nichols, Incubation Manager at SETsquared Bristol. Jason is a business coach and entrepreneur who founded and exited multi-channel FMCG brand New Kings Coffee, and has spent more than 750 hours coaching over 200 entrepreneurs to grow themselves and their businesses.
