About this Event

Seasonal Mindful Photography Workshops

Join Ines, founder of Seeing The Now, for a seasonal series of Mindful

Photography workshops exploring the changing landscape through the seasons

and inviting us to look at the familiar with fresh eyes.

Autumn • Winter • Spring • Summer

Four seasons. One woodland. A year of looking.

Across the year, we will return to Craigmillar Woods and explore how each

season transforms the landscape—and how our own way of looking might shift

with it. Through simple photographic and mindful exercises, we will slow down,

follow our curiosity and practise looking more intentionally at the world around

us.

Photography becomes a tool for noticing: light, colour, texture, movement,

change and the small details that might otherwise go unseen. There is no

pressure to create perfect photographs. The emphasis is on the process of

looking, discovering what catches our attention and seeing familiar

surroundings with fresh eyes.

Each 2.5-hour seasonal session will begin at Bridgend Farmhouse before we

head into Craigmillar Woods for our photographic exploration. Afterwards, we

will return to the farmhouse for a relaxed conversation over hot drinks and

biscuits, with an opportunity to share what we noticed, the images that

emerged from the experience, or simply listen.

All sessions are capped at 12 participants to create a warm, friendly and

personal experience.

You can join us for an individual season or follow the woods through the whole

year. A discounted price will be available for those booking all four

workshops.

No previous photography experience or specialist equipment is required—a

mobile phone camera is more than enough.

As the workshops take place primarily outdoors, please dress appropriately for

the weather.

What participants have said

“The workshop was a quiet, meditative opportunity to observe and photograph

in nature. Being in your presence was also very special—your calm, thoughtful,

and open approach created a real sense of trust and safety within the group.” -

J

“The tutor was warm and open in the way she explained what she was inviting

us to do. There was just enough guidance and structure to help focus our

exploration of the woodland without restricting it.” - L

“I really liked the use of focus words. They led me in unexpected directions

during the workshop, which was a wonderful surprise. I use nature photography

to support my mental wellbeing, as it encourages me to focus on the present

moment and step away from the pressures of work.” - E

“The workshop was very well facilitated, helping me connect with nature and

myself while also inspiring my photography.” -
