Seed starting doesn’t have to be complicated—or expensive. This beginner-focused class teaches simple, repeatable seed starting systems that work for real home gardeners.

Through a mix of instruction, demonstration, and guided participation, you’ll learn how to start seeds outdoors using winter sowing techniques and indoors under grow lights. More importantly, you’ll actively build a seed starting strategy that aligns with your space, schedule, and growing goals.

Led by Jason Kamp (@jasonthebackyardfarmer on Instagram), professional market farmer and avid home gardener, this class emphasizes practical decision-making, realistic timelines, and proven methods so you can stop guessing and start growing your own plants with confidence.

What does the cost of this program cover?

Your ticket to this program covers attendance at this 2 hour long program that includes an indoor talk and hands-on interactive garden experience. You will also receive access to take-home information on gardening..  Non-Member tickets also include the cost of admission to the farm for the day. 

What should I wear?

Dress in layers to be prepared to both sit inside for ~1.5 hours and walk around outside (less than a mile on a hilly path) for ~.5 hours.

• Programs run rain or shine. Dress for the weather if your program takes you outside!
• No ticket refunds within 2 weeks of the program except in the case of Gorman Heritage Farm canceling the program
• If you are currently testing positive for COVID-19 or suspect you may be coming down with a transmissible illness, we require you to stay home to help keep others healthy. Thank you for helping us to keep each other healthy and comfortable!
