About this Event
Get ready to swing into your Saturday with an unforgettable afternoon of big band jazz, outrageous energy, and iconic tunes—presented by Angela O’Neill & the Outrageous8, now celebrating 10 years of swingin’!
This month's guest vocalists are Karen Celeste Kruz and Mary Bogue. Karen Celeste Kruz is an LA-based jazz vocalist, composer and recording artist whose eclectic repertoire spans blues, swing, Latin jazz, beloved jazz standards and original songs. Whether it’s a familiar favorite to sing along with, something to tap your toes to or an unexpected musical surprise, Karen brings warmth and personality to every performance. She performs alongside some of Los Angeles’ top jazz musicians, with recent projects produced by Mark Winkler and collaborators including Grant Geissman, Lyman Medeiros, Rich Eames, Jamieson Trotter, Kendall Kay, Dan Lutz, Peter Buck and Karen Hammack. Karen’s recordings are available on Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music and other major streaming platforms, with new releases arriving in November.
Mary Bogue is a powerhouse vocalist whose unmistakable voice has earned praise from jazz and blues legends including Les McCann, Linda Hopkins and Barbara Morrison, who counted Mary among her “Blues Mamas.” With a style rooted in jazz, blues, R&B and Motown, Mary channels the spirit of the great “red-hot mamas” of another era, moving effortlessly from smoky, intimate ballads to bold, brassy showstoppers. A longtime fixture of the Los Angeles jazz scene, Mary has released three albums, including Don’t Go to Strangers, bringing equal parts heart, grit and glamour to every performance.
The Outrageous8 features an all-star lineup of LA’s top musicians, including custom arrangements by Harry Smallenburg and Rocky Davis, and music direction by Sam Morgan, son of touring legend David Morgan (Three Dog Night). From Grammy-winning sidemen to jazz veterans who’ve played with The Rolling Stones, Cher, and the Honeydrippers—this group brings heat, history, and serious chops to the stage.
Angela O’Neill, a UCLA Theater Arts alum and former classical oboist, has produced hundreds of shows with The Outrageous8. A versatile performer, she’s sung jazz, country, and rock, and currently sings with multiple 18-piece big bands. Angela is also the driving force behind Outrageous8 Records, which she launched five years ago, producing six albums for the band and additional projects for bandmates Paul Litteral and Ron Cyger.
Please note that there is a $35 food and beverage minimum at the venue on the day of the event.
