About this Event
In this hands-on introduction to screen printing, we'll learn what it is, how to do it, and different forms of printmaking. Guided by Free4ALL artists Sarah Pimenta and Tyasha/Ty, participants will screen print ready-made designs onto clothes, create with nature, and practice different techniques on paper.
We'll have a limited supply of clothing items to print on. Participants should bring a t-shirt (or jeans, sweatshirts, tote bags, dresses etc.) to ensure you leave with something that fits.
ALL AGES, ALL SKILL LEVELS WELCOME!
This program is created and produced by Free4ALL in partnership with NXTHVN. The program is funded by Break the System Archive.
ABOUT Free4ALL and Facilitators
Free4ALL is liberation art that practices mutual aid as community-led infrastructure. They create pop-up free stores, support groups, teach-ins and other survival programs mostly in Connecticut. Their goal is bringing people together to share the responsibility of materializing a free world without prisons. Learn more at free4allct.com.
Sarah Pimenta is a lifelong CT resident, artist, organizer, and part of the Free4ALL collective. She believes art is inherently political and is critical to collective liberation; it archives us in our joy as well as our pain.
Tyasha/Ty is a transdisciplinary artist, archivist, and educator making collective liberation real by any means necessary. They are the founder and organizer of Free4ALL.
Selected artwork for screen printing is provided by local artist, yilan shen.
