Screening: Touché
Join us for a special in-person screening of Touché, followed by a panel discussion with the cast and crew, at Unspoken: The UK South Asian Mental Health Film Festival.
Touché is a British comedy-drama about Deep, a British South Asian woman who feels stuck in a rut and decides to shake up her life by taking up the unlikely sport of fencing. At her local club, she clashes with Kate, a highly skilled but guarded fencer who is reluctant to welcome a newcomer, creating tension both on and off the piste. Deep also forms an unexpected friendship with Tom, whose easy charm hides a personal secret.
As the three navigate ambition, identity, friendship and belonging through the absurdities and small victories of amateur fencing, the film also touches on the emotional impact of Alzheimer’s disease and the way illness can affect relationships, memory and connection. Warm, witty and moving, Touché opens up conversations around change, vulnerability, resilience and the importance of human connection.
Unspoken: The UK South Asian Mental Health Film Festival is an initiative by Tongues on Fire CIO, in partnership with mental health organisations Psychiatry Research Trust, Concern for Mental Health, and the Centre of Applied Research and Evaluation International Foundation (CAREIF).
