Kick off your weekend with Scenic City Clay Arts at Studio Ours for a evening of clay! In this hands on ceramic class, you’ll create your own functional dish using handbuilding techniques, then explore the art of sgraffito to create surface design. After building your dish, you’ll apply layers of colored slip and carefully scratch through the surface to reveal your design. Whether you choose a bold pattern, playful illustration, or intricate texture, you’ll leave with a handmade piece that is uniquely yours. No previous pottery experience required!
Our instructors will guide you step-by-step through constructing, and personalizing your bookends. Once fired and finished at our studio, your piece will be ready to pick up and bring a cozy, personal touch to your home.
No clay experience needed — just bring your imagination and a friend (or two!)
All materials and tools are provided, and we’ll take care of firing and glazing your creations. Your finished piece will be ready for pick-up 4–6 weeks after the event at SCCA’s member studio on 11th Street.
