Ally grew up listening to classic jazz greats like Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie, and classical music’s greatest contributors like Brahms and Chopin, often plucking out what she heard on the piano or guitar. R&B powerhouses like Chaka Khan, The Isley Brothers, Al Green, Michael Jackson, Prince, and countless others were a staple in her youth. Ally realized that her voice adopted characteristics of some of her favorite musicians; Etta James, Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, and Tracy Chapman. Her “old soul” lends textured vocals and sultry melodies that spin classics into jazzier renditions and her range spans from deep, expressive blues, to sweet falsettos and everywhere in between.
