Class Description
Sandblasting prepares a piece for powder coating or other finishing. It can also be a good way to clean a piece before TIG welding.
This course will cover using Artisan’s sandblasting cabinet, what can and cannot be blasted with our equipment, as well as shop safety and etiquette.
*This class includes Tool Testing on the following tools:

Learning Objectives
- Learn safe use of A2’s sandblasting equipment
- Understand the necessary precautions and safety equipment
- Become familiar with shop etiquette
- Know how to properly clean and reset the equipment for the next user
- Be approved (tool tested) to use the sandblaster independently and book use time in Nexudus
Instructor - Kit Siegle
Kit Siegle is a queer, non-binary artist based in Central Mass, and a tool tester in the sandblaster and powdercoating shops. Their metal shop projects have included an oversized Chinese checkers game and a set of display wings, both made from upcycled materials.
Target Audience
Students interested in how to Sandblast, specifically at Artisans Asylum! Students must be 18 years or older.
Your Ticket Includes
- Steel stock for blasting
- Blasting media
- Mask if needed, ear plugs
- Access to A2's Sandblasting & Powder Coating Shop and tools for the duration of the session.
Class Policies
Attire: Closed-toed shoes are required throughout Artisans Asylum. If you already have an N95 or better NIOSH-approved mask or respirator, please bring your own. A2 can supply disposable masks as needed.
