About this Event
Join local artist Lucy Dean-Moore for a cosy afternoon of hands-on crafting. You'll make a handmade hanging decoration inspired by Samhain, the ancient Celtic festival that inspired Halloween, and take it home to dress your door, window or mantel.
What you'll make:
A one-of-a-kind hanging decoration with clay discs and dried herbs and plants, ready to hang by your front door, in a window, over a fireplace, or anywhere that needs a little autumn magic.
In the workshop, you will:
- Stamp 2 clay discs with leaves, botanical textures and symbols, then take them home to dry
- Paint 2 ready-made dried clay discs (prepared for you in advance) with acrylics, learning simple techniques to bring out botanical textures
- Choose your plants and herbs from a selection traditionally linked with Samhain, such as rosemary and sage, and discover a little of the folklore behind them
- Bring it all together with ribbon and twine into a finished piece to take home
No experience needed. This is a relaxed, friendly afternoon suitable for all levels. There's no right or wrong, and every piece turns out different.
